Kim Hale

Mrs. Hale was born in Chongjin-city, Hamkyong-bukdo, Korea in 1939 and immigrated to the United States at the age of 23. In 1973, Mrs. Hale obtained her accounting degree from the University of Maryland. Five years later, she founded her accounting firm, Kim Hale, Inc. and managed it until her retirement in 2005.

Mrs. Hale has been very active in the Baltimore area Korean American community for many years. Not only was Mrs. Hale the founder and first president of KAWSM, but she has been a leader for numerous other Korean organizations including Korean Society of Maryland, Baltimore City Mayor’s Korean Advisory Committee, Korean Woman’s Association Senior Citizen HUD Program, Baltimore Senior Citizen’s Center, and the Korean Society of Southwest Florida.

She has received numerous awards for her service including three Baltimore Mayor’s Citations for Korean community leadership, Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea, and two Maryland Governor Citations for Korean community leadership.

Mrs. Hale has been married to Robert since 1969. They have four children and six grandchildren. They currently reside in Naples, Florida after more than 30 years of their residency in Ellicott City, Maryland.
