Joyce Kim is currently a project manager with the federal government and has been a federal employee for the past 16 years. She is a second generation Korean-American who was born and raised in the Midwest, and recently relocated to Maryland.
Finding a balance between the Korean and American cultures is very important to Joyce. She lived and worked in Korea after graduating from the University of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana), where she grew to understand and appreciate many aspects of the Korean culture firsthand.
Now, she hopes to ensure that her daughter understands the importance of learning about the Korean language, heritage, history, and culture. She hopes that the work of KAWSM will help many of the younger generation appreciate just “being Korean.”
